Happy Friday, Intentionalists and welcome to our first-ever newsletter!
Each week we’ll share prompt questions, calls to action and affirmations to get you feeling great and living life like you mean it.
Watch out for Kelly’s bonus ‘giggle-giver’ because life is too short to be too serious. We suggest writing your responses in a journal so you can refer back to them and measure your progress.
PROMPT QUESTIONS
Developing a low tolerance for misery will alter the way you live your life and make decisions.
What would you be doing differently this coming week if you had a low tolerance for misery?
Would you drop social engagements with people who don’t make you feel good and do something you enjoy instead eg read a book by your favourite author, see a movie with a treasured friend, or take a walk somewhere beautiful and inspiring?
Do you find resistance to the idea of dropping people and things from your life that make you miserable?
Do you think there could be a secondary benefit in feeling miserable? For example, are you avoiding feeling the fear and uncertainty that comes with changing something about your life? Do you bond with people by complaining along with them? Are you comfortably numb and changing anything would involve feeling uncomfortably alive?
What will your life look like 5 years from now if you keep putting up with things in your life that are making you miserable?
What could your life look like 5 years from now if you deliberately did more things that made you feel joyful instead?
FEEL GOOD PRACTICE
What actions will you take this week to drop misery out of your life and bring more joy into it instead?
Write them on your calendar or in your diary, specifying where and when you will do them. Scheduling these actions increases your chances of following through.
SWITCH IT UP
We all have activities in our lives that have to do, even if we don’t particularly enjoy them e.g. sorting out our taxes, filling out forms, cleaning the kitchen etc. Doing these things, however, makes our lives run more smoothly.
Is there a way you could feel better about doing these tasks?
For instance, could you listen to some uplifting music, a good audiobook or podcast while you clean the kitchen? Could you think about the good things that come from paying taxes e.g. roads, medical care, school and all the infrastructure that brings benefits to our lives?
Write down your ideas and implement them the next time you have to perform that activity.
FEEL GOOD AFFIRMATION
It feels good to feel good.
(Write this out slowly ten times)
KELLY’S GIGGLE GIVERS
Or hopefully, they’ll at least make you smile. I firmly believe that fun and silliness are a way of life. I adore silly words … so you’ll see a lot of them. This week’s dose of silliness is:
Rannygazoo • [Ran-eee-ga-zoo] Noun
Meaning: Foolishness, A fuss, Nonsense, Exaggeration or Deception
Try to use this word in a sentence in an email, a text or maybe even drop it in a conversation with a friend or co-worker this week.
Let us know if you do!
The Intentionalist
To live intentionally is to live life on purpose. While goal-setting and intention-setting are related, they’re not the same thing.
Setting a goal is about taking action
Setting an intention is a conscious decision about how you are going to show up in the world – that is, who you’re being
You can set a goal to travel the world, but to become an adventurous, bold, daring or curious person is an intention.
In The Intentionalist, each Friday we offer journal prompts, calls to actions and affirmations to help you consciously create the person you want to be.
Some are for self-discovery, others are to help overcome blocks and negative thinking. But the underlying purpose of the newsletter is to get you feeling great about your life right now.
When you feel good, you feel inspired, passionate, confident and ready to be your greatest self.
With Love and Intention,
Belinda & Kelly XX
